THOMAS COOK

GALLERY

AWARD WINNING FINE ART  |  LIMITED EDITIONS

Worth the Trip

Welcome to Thomas Cook’s award winning gallery. Tom is one of the luckiest guys on the planet. He calls Montana home, he’s skied, hiked, golfed, fished, hunted, created art films that have screened in the Hirshhorn Museum and the American Film Institute, been interviewed for the cover of Advertising Age and honored in Print Magazine, won 2 Cine Golden Eagles, received national recognition on NBC’s Today Show, collected over 125 Addy Awards, and made some of the best friends ever…

Born in Minnesota and raised a few miles west of the WALKER ART CENTER, Tom left the land of 10,000 lakes to live under the Big Sky. There, he played college football, earned a B.A. in Art and Professional Design, started a communications company, and received a 2nd B.S. in Motion Picture and Television Production.

In 1981, Gene Yungblood, judge of the Portland 9th Annual Film and Video Festival and author of Expanded Cinema, a classic work on experimental medium theory and criticism, gave Tom his first and best critical review:

“Toward a radical sense-‐ability is color and back-‐and-‐white film, animation and film dying. Sound collages and video feedback, flash frames, smoke rings, and subtitles are used in this energetic pursuit of altered states. The
conclusion is unresolved but getting there is worth the trip”

To this day, Tom continues to produce works that are energetic and unresolved. Thanks for getting here.
We hope it is worth the trip!

Recent Reviews:

“Vibrant colors, striking perspectives, a work at once familiar and unexpected. Tom Cook’s beautiful photograph taken in side Richard Serra's Five Plates, Two Poles (left), took my breath away. Finding inspiration in Serra's monumental, raw sculpture, Cook taps his own creative spirit to transform the monochromatic peice into something luminous.
